It is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. NSS is a voluntary association of young people in college permitted to provide services for minimum 2 years, at Colleges and Universities of India. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands-on experience to young students in delivering community services.

The symbol for NSS has been based on the giant Rath Wheel of the world-famous Konark Sun Temple. The eight bars in the wheel represent 24 hours of a day. The red colour indicates that the volunteer is full of young blood that is lively, active, energetic and full of high spirit. The navy blue colour indicates the cosmos of which the NSS is a tiny part, ready to contribute its share for the welfare of mankind. Mentoring is a unique method of supporting students to improve their learning and leadership skills, motivating them towards their future career development. With this in mind, the college has a Mentorship Cell wherein the faculty members are given orientation on mentor system and meet the students on day-to-day basis to listen to their issues and guide them on their overall personality development.

The Student Mentoring is a programme, under the guidance of the Principal and faculty coordinators with the following primary objectives of enabling constructive interaction, guidance and mentorship of junior students by senior students. Providing, a reliable and comprehensive support system, to motivate students to excel in both academic and non-academic fields and to make the most of their life at the college. The objectives of the Mentorship Cell include:

  • To counsel academically weak undergraduate first year students and to play an important role in helping troubled students cope with academic, extra-academic and personal problems.
  • To provide positive role models to students in the college.
  • To proactively try to identify problems of the general student populace and to bring them to the notice of the concerned authorities

The Cell endeavors to pursue these objectives by carefully identifying those who can act as an anchor and guide for a freshman or an academically weak student. Student Mentors will be selected to play this role and are given the authority to pursue the mission of this programme. Student Mentors usually belonging to the LLB IInd & IIIrd year and of B.A. LL.B.IV & V. Each of them would be assigned a class of first year students. Legal AID Cell

Article 39A of the Constitution Of India Provides for equal Justice and Free Legal Aid:

State shall secure that the operation of the legal system promote justice, on the basis of equal opportunity, and shall, in particular, provide free legal aid, by suitable legislation or schemes or in any other way, to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reason of economic or other disablities.

This Article emphasises that free legal service is an inalienable element of ‘reasonable fair and just procedure’, for without it a person suffering from economic or other diabilities would be deprivied of the opportunity for the securing justice.

As a social responsibily and as per the mandates of Bar Council of India, Balaji Law College runs a Lagal Aid Cell which adheres the fundamental policy enshrined in Article 39A of the Constitution of India.

The primary purpose of a Legal Aid Cell is to promote social justice, uphold the rule of law, and ensure that legal rights are protected and accessible to all members of society, regardless of their economic background.

The activities and functions of a Legal Aid Cell can vary depending on the law college and its resources, they include the following:

Legal Assistance: The main function of a Legal Aid Cell is to offer free legal advice, consultation, and assistance to individuals facing legal issues.

Awareness Programmes: The cell conducts awareness programs and legal literacy campaigns to educate people about their legal rights and obligations. These programs help empower individuals to understand their legal rights and seek help when necessary.

Legal workshop and Seminars: Organizing workshops and seminars on legal topics to enhance students' legal knowledge and skills, as well as the awareness of legal issues among the community.

Community outraging: Collaborating with NGOs and local organizations to reach out to underprivileged communities and provide legal support to those in need.

  • To help the first year students understand the challenges and opportunities present in the college and develop a smooth transition to campus life.
